Title IX Information
TITLE IX OFFICE
The protection and support of our students is vitally important to Trinity College of Florida (TCF). This includes all matters relating to Title IX. This federal law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities, particularly sexual harassment and sexual violence.
TCF’s Title IX policy applies to all members of the TCF community—students, faculty, administrators, and staff as well as vendors, contractors, and third parties who visit campus.
REPORTING RIGHTS AND RESOURCES
All members of the TCF Community are encouraged to report information about any form of conduct potentially prohibited by this Policy involving a student or an employee.
TCF’s first response will be to see how best to support.
A report does not automatically initiate any particular resolution process. The Title IX Coordinator will walk through options for resolution and outcomes. Choosing to make a report and deciding how to proceed can be a process that unfolds over time. Although TCF may need to take action as a result of a particular report, TCF will endeavor to respect a Complainant’s wishes in making the decision that is best for them and will provide support to assist each individual in making that decision.
Lack of evidence should not discourage a person from reporting an experience.
For more information on how to make a report, see Make a Report
WHAT IS TITLE IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs and activities, including but not limited to athletic programs that receive federal funding.
TITLE IX STATES:
“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” (20 U.S.C. Sec. 1681).
Examples of sex discrimination that are prohibited under the federal regulations of Title IX include Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, and Retaliation against anyone who makes a report and/or participates in the complaint resolution process is also prohibited under Title IX.
INSTITUTIONAL COMPLIANCE WITH TITLE IX
To provide a safe, healthy, and God-honoring environment at TCF, to ensure compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and regulations, and to affirm its commitment to promoting biblical integrity while meeting the goals of fairness and equity in all aspects of its Education Programs and Activities, consistent with TCF’s religious beliefs, TCF has developed policies and procedures that provide a prompt, fair, and impartial process for those involved in an allegation of Prohibited Conduct as defined in TCF’s Title IX policy. The core purpose of Title IX Office (the “Policy”) is the prohibition of all forms of Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Sexual Exploitation, and Stalking and to provide a safe environment in which those who have been the target of or who witness Sexual Harassment or Sexual Violence can report such conduct without fear of Retaliation.
This Policy applies to all members of the TCF community—students, faculty, administrators, and staff; and vendors, contractors, and third parties who visit TCF’s campus with respect to all conduct in any academic, educational, extra-curricular, athletic, or other TCF program or activity (collectively, “TCF programs and activities”) on the TCF campus and TCF programs and activities occurring off-campus, including TCF programs and activities outside the United States. This Policy also applies to persons conducting business with or visiting TCF. Accordingly, TCF may investigate all Title IX Complaints regardless of where the alleged conduct occurs.
In accordance with Title IX, the president of TCF has designated the following Title IX team members as the primary contacts responsible for coordinating compliance with Title IX.
