From Student to Registrar
How did you go from being a student to becoming the registrar?
It was completely a God thing. After graduating, I was invited back to speak at a women’s winter formal for alumni to encourage female students. After my speech, a professor mentioned a potential job opening and said I’d be a great fit.
At the time, I had no experience in administration and wasn’t sure if it was the right path. My main goal was to work in a Christian environment, and I was already in the interview process with Door of Hope, a fostering agency.
I was offered a job at Door of Hope but asked for a couple of days to pray about it. I hadn’t received an offer from Trinity yet, but I strongly felt that this was where God was calling me. I turned down the offer from Door of Hope, and just 20 minutes later, Dr. Bargerhuff called and offered me the assistant registrar position. Since there wasn’t a registrar at the time, I stepped into the assistant role. After a couple of months of training, I transitioned into the full registrar position, and I’ve been here ever since.
How does your role as registrar contribute to the college’s mission?
I interact with students daily, whether it’s helping them register for classes, reviewing their degree audits, or answering general questions. While I may not have all the answers, I can guide them to the right resources.
More importantly, I get to build relationships with students. That’s one of the biggest blessings of this job. Even though I don’t teach, I have the opportunity to invest in students and help them grow in their faith, aligning with the college’s mission to prepare them to be ambassadors for Christ.
How do you assist students who struggle academically or spiritually?
I always point them to Scripture first. That should be our primary guide. David says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” We should be filling our minds with God’s Word daily.
I often tell my small group that if the world says Christians are brainwashed, then yes—we are, because we choose to wash our minds with God’s truth rather than the world’s distractions.
Beyond that, I encourage students by walking alongside them and praying with them.
What unique programs or courses set this college apart?
One of the most distinctive aspects of Trinity is the Honors Program. I participated in it, and those courses were the most challenging and rewarding of my academic journey.
The program includes specialized courses designed to stretch students in their faith and biblical knowledge. A unique requirement is participating in at least one honors trip, where students step out of their usual environment, experience other cultures, and study Scripture in a deeper way.
There’s nothing quite like standing in a historic location and learning about its biblical significance firsthand.
What advice would you give to someone considering Bible college but unsure if it’s the right fit?
God is sovereign, and He will use whatever decision you make. That alone should give you peace.
As the registrar, I’d ask: What do you have to lose? You can go to church, attend Bible studies, and grow in your faith, but here, you have a unique opportunity to be poured into by faculty who are deeply knowledgeable and passionate about Scripture.
While knowledge of God’s Word isn’t the ultimate goal—loving the Lord is—the more we know Him, the more we love Him. So why wouldn’t you take this opportunity to grow?
From your perspective, what support would be most helpful for the college to achieve its mission?
The right students—students who come here for the right reasons.
I could have pursued my psychology degree anywhere, but I chose Trinity because I wanted to study God’s Word first and foremost. That’s the kind of student we need—those who are eager to grow spiritually and be equipped for ministry.
Our mission is to prepare students to serve—whether in the marketplace, the church, or the mission field. As Christians, we are called to pour ourselves out in service to others. Having students who embrace that calling will always be vital to our mission.
To help our faculty and staff like Grace continue to pour into our students, you can help Trinity College of Florida, Forge a Future here.
