--> Focusing On God After a time of Service

I, Justin McConnell, am majoring in psychology, and I’m considering several career paths, though I don’t have a single answer yet. One option I’ve thought about is medical school, which could lead me to becoming a psychiatrist—essentially a doctor who prescribes medication.

As for what brought me to Trinity, it’s a bit of an interesting story. I used to drive past the school every day on my way to high school, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Later, as I applied to colleges, I realized I didn’t really know much about Trinity, but I liked the idea of attending a Christian school, so I decided to apply. When I was accepted, I felt it was the right place for me, and I’ve enjoyed my time here.

Being a veteran, I try not to let it influence my schooling choices too much, but I’m sure in some ways it has. However, being at a Christian college has helped me prioritize my life in a different way. It’s been impactful to focus on making Jesus a priority and learning how others who share that priority live their daily lives. It’s been a refreshing experience.

I’m also involved in the Student Government Association (SGA), which has been great. It’s been a fun opportunity to meet a lot of people and get to know them better, and I hope I’m making an impact through the connections I’ve made.

If I had to offer advice to prospective students, especially veterans or anyone considering this school, I’d say that Trinity offers a unique experience. It’s not just about classes—it’s about building relationships in a community that prioritizes spiritual growth and personal development. The focus on teamwork and shared goals reminds me a lot of the military, and it’s something you can’t easily find anywhere else.
