Director of Player Development and Pitching Coach – Men’s Baseball

Fernando Alba is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Director of Player Development and Pitching Coach with decades of experience developing, evaluating, and preparing
players for high-level competition. A former MLB pitcher with the New York Mets, Alba is known for his ability to identify talent, diagnose individual player needs, and implement customized development plans that maximize performance and long-term durability. His background in scouting evaluation includes reviewing and grading incoming recruit video, preparing targeted training programs, and using advanced analytics to project player growth.

As Director of Player Development at 3K Sports Unlimited, Alba has led and managed a staff of more than 20 coaches while overseeing pitcher development using TrackMan and Rapsodo technology for real-time feedback and pitch design. He has created comprehensive throwing programs focused on arm health, strength, and velocity using plyometrics, bands, and weighted implements.

Alba has also played a key role in mentoring and transitioning international players—particularly those from the Dominican Republic—into the U.S. baseball culture,
ensuring both on-field readiness and off-field adjustment. His coaching experience includes serving as Pitching Coach at NCAA Division I Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey, where he directed daily practice, pre-game preparation, and opponent-based game planning using scouting reports to give
